Desiree Prieto Groft has written for the Emmy-award-winning NBC Chicago Street Team, Newsweek, Huffington Post, Rome Today, and more.
She teaches literature and writing at Arizona State University’s New College. Before teaching at ASU, Desiree taught at Concordia University, Texas, and was a writing workshop coordinator at The New School in New York City. She has an M.A. in English Literature from Texas A&M University-San Antonio and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing-Nonfiction from The New School.
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Desiree started her career in travel. Over the years, she has lived in Rome, London, Chicago, New York City, and Austin. She also calls California and Arizona homes, thanks to family and work. In her spare time, Desiree loves planning trips to Italy for family and friends. Fun facts - while living in New York City, Desiree studied sketch comedy writing and acting, during which time she was cast as a background actress.
